I'm relatively new to photography - I've always been interested in learning more about taking great photos and am always looking to improve my techniques. I purchased my first DSLR (a Nikon D90) in May of 2011 and have been trying to get out and take photos of whatever strikes me as interesting (or could become interesting with a little - or lots - of editing). My favorite subjects typically are landscapes, nature scenes, wildlife and architecture. I am mainly (and will be for the near future) a self-taught photographer having only taken one "formal" night course in photography. Photography to me is a hobby that I love to explore in my free time when I am not working at my day job as a geophysicist. I feel that photography gives me the motivation and drive to go on adventures and see different parts of nature and cultures that I may not otherwise be as inclined to experience.
